We meet to develop and extend the skills required to research our ancestors and explore the world in which they lived.We do this through sharing and presentations about our experiences of researching our ancestors, exploring challenges that group members are having during their research and we share our knowledge of resources and methods.
Recent topics we have covered included: using diverse online records, sharing family stories, using AI, the importance of historical context, sharing all the many resources we have used to do our research and a challenge from a museum to identify a soldier's uniform. We have also recently had tuition for reading old writing and wills, and learned about the 'Adventurers' . Some projects lead us into a deeper understanding of the historical setting and social history of the time.
We offer a warm welcome to both those with experience and those who are new to genealogy and support is freely given. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge. Bring your own mug if you can as cups are not provided at this venue. We will have spare beakers.
