We will be meeting monthly on Tuesday afternoons at a central Newton Abbot venue from October. Our October and November meetings will be from 2-3.30 pm in the Middleton room at St Paul's, but we are hoping to move to a more conducive venue when there is availability. In our early meetings everyone will contribute tracks to the meeting - in October we will each suggest two songs - one representing the beginning of our journey with popular music, and the other an example of what we listen to now. Perhaps we'll contribute as a group to the current national u3a Rewind project. In the future each group member will take it in turns to present some music or suggest a theme. We will be using streamed playlists, CDs, DVDs and YouTube or similar videos over the internet. Our first meeting led to enthusiastic contributions, a discussion about our youth - and how music can keep you young. It looks like it will be a very sociable group. The group leader also compiles a monthly list of upcoming shows - members might like to find a companion from the group with whom to go, via an add-on WhatsApp/email group.
